Summary of 2001 Handbook Changes

August 31 —

We revised the Annuitants and Compensationers chapter to reflect the new May 2001 version of the SF 2818. This changes some procedures and makes the Option B and Option C Election Notice obsolete.

We clarified the effective date of Option B obtained with a life event in the Coverage chapter.

May 21 —

We modified the FEGLI Handbook Index to allow you to choose the Web version, PDF version or a Printer Version.

We rearranged the Termination and Conversion chapter. The topics are now in order of Termination, Conversion, then Option B Portability.

We also added an exception statement to the effective date of the cancellation of optional insurance.

May 7 —

We've added a Table of FEGLI Legislation to the Handbook. This table documents the laws and regulations affecting the FEGLI program since the original act in 1954.

January 12 —

Types and Amounts of Insurance

Under "Not Included," we have added that physicians' comparability allowances are not included in annual pay for FEGLI purposes.
