Multi-State Plan Program and the
Health Insurance Marketplace Enrollee

If you are enrolled in FEHB coverage, you don’t need a Marketplace plan to meet Affordable Care Act coverage standards.

Starting in 2014, individuals, families and small businesses will have a new way to get health insurance. Whether you’re uninsured or just want to explore new options, the Health Insurance Marketplace will provide one-stop shopping, offer more choices and give you more control over your health insurance options.

About the Health Insurance Marketplace

You can think of the Marketplace as a grocery store for health insurance. The Marketplace will have simple and straightforward information about each plan so you can get a clear picture of what you’re paying for and what your plan covers before you make a choice.

You may be eligible for free or low cost health insurance or financial assistance through the Marketplace. Visit for more information.

About the Multi-State Plan Program

The MSP options will be among those from which you can choose during open enrollment, which begins on October 1, 2013, with coverage beginning January 1, 2014. Please check back with us frequently, as we will post updates on which MSP options are available in which States.

Why Should I Choose MSP coverage?

An MSP option is a high-quality plan under contract with OPM, the agency that administers health insurance for Federal employees. OPM will monitor plans’ performance and oversee their compliance with the Affordable Care Act, so enrollees can be assured of consistent, quality coverage.
